I’ve had a great start to 2010 enjoying a terrific Celtic Connections festival. Session A9 were the house band for the sell out Scottish Songbook gig in the Royal Concert Hall which involved Karine Polwart and a host of wonderful singers performing Scottish songs written in the past 100 years.
I was also very fortunate to perform with the fabulous Eilidh MacKenzie on her new ”Bel Canto” album at Celtic Connections, which involves a host of terrific musicians including Ged Grimes, Brian McAlpine, Christine Hanson, Michael Marra, James Graham, Anna Meldrum and Elizabeth McCormack. Looking forward to more “Bel Canto” gigs in 2010.
Look out for Eilidh, Ged, Brian, Christine and myself performing songs from Bel Canto on the new tv series of “Horo Gheallaidh” which was recorded during this years Celtic Connections Festival.
Session A9 also had a sell out gig in the Fruitmarket along with the terrific Kris Drever before carrying straight on to a 14 night UK tour.
The tour was a great success with the band visiting all new venues along the length of the UK and performing new material and songs along side some of the familiar numbers from our first two albums.
2010 is looking to be a busy one for Session A9 with dates in Spain, France, Italy, Switzerland along with UK dates and a UK tour for October already in the diary.

The Gordon Gunn Band’s new album is ¾ recorded and will hopefully be completed in the Spring with dates promoting the album to be announced on release.
A book of music written by Gordon is in the pipeline and will be available later in the year.

Over the past few years I’ve been asked to compose specific pieces of music for special occasions and supply written copies of the music and a professionally recorded CD of the piece. The package includes -
- A piece of music written to your requirements i.e. Waltz, March, Jig, Reel, Air etc with a title selected by you the customer.
- A CD copy or copies of the music performed by Gordon Gunn with music title printed directly onto the silver disc, supplied in standard jewel case with booklet & inlay.
- Printed framed copy of the manuscript music.

Gordon Gunn - Session Musician New Service
Having performed on many albums as a session musician, I am now offering my session services on fiddle & mandolin from my home studio. Using Pro Tools hard disc recording medium, I can add fiddle or mandolin to your album by recording my parts in my own studio avoiding hefty studio and travel costs and then uploading them for you to add into your final mix.
What is required:
- Individual Wav files of the instruments / vocals in your session so the headphone mix can be adjusted to suit my requirements while recording. These large files can be sent using various ftp large transfer sites or if needed they can be sent on data CDR.
- Your ideas of what's required in the performance of the track and where the instruments are placed if it's specific verses and choruses etc.
What you receive:
- An mp3 of the mix with fiddle, mandolin or both for you to check to see if you're satisfied with the results.
Once you're satisfied:
- The finished wav files of fiddle and mandolin will be sent via an ftp transfer site. The files you'll receive will be recorded flat with no EQ and dry of any effect so it can be fitted into your final mix to suit any plug-in effect you may want to add to suit the overall mix.
